U7 Soccer, Kicking Some Grass

We knew it was coming, but then it was here. The end of summer. The Thursday before school started, Finn played tennis and archery, then went swimming with neighbor Sassy. After we hit a last day of Toddler School for Hildi party, he got socialized at an Ice Cream Social at his school. After that, we headed to soccer practice. Shots here. It is a long story, but we (Mak’s family and ours) were able to join Adam’s (Steve and Sarah’s coworker, father to the cute eight-week-old baby’s) team. Finn had a ball and so did Hildi who is in love with Mak’s little brother Ryder. That was just the start of exhausting days.

Finn started first grade and Hildi started pre-school, but we only have a few photos to show for it. Finn rode the bus, when we met him at school he made a mad dash to his new class, and then settled in not needing our help. Such a big boy now. Hildi didn’t do as well. Now that we’ve had some time to reflect, she moved up to a new teacher, new friends (two friends that were going to move up with her, ended up in another class), and a new room proved to put her over the edge. It is kind of hard to snap a shot when your child is trying to grab on to her mama, even if that means by the hair.

Before we knew it, it was soccer practice again. It was a wonderful night. Hildi decided to put on her soccer shirt and soccer shoes (even though they were two sizes too big). Steve brought a piece of cake for our neighbor who was celebrating her birthday, which explains the chocolate child and possibly why on a sugar high the eight, eight-year-old girls hanging from the goal post were so cosmic for him. All the parents remarked how much the kids have improved since last year. See shots here.
