Waterfront Fun Park

What about a carnival makes people smile and walk closer together? It worked on us too. As you can see, Hildi was just tall enough to ride on most of the 36-inch “must be this tall to ride” options. The first one her and Finn went on was the Tiger Rollercoaster. Finn thought it was babyish, but Hildi said, “It freaked me out. I thought I was going to fall out.” She made a more tame choice for her second pick, the boats. As Finn would say, “Lame.” He set his sights on bigger rides, and at 48” could try several that scared his mom. He rode the flying machine twice. The first time he was a little unsure, the second time he’d shout, “I’m flying like a bird.” Hildi was very serious on all the rides. She was figuring out how they worked. The carnies would tell her, “Steer with the steering wheel,” and she’d look at them like, “The steering wheel has no effect on where I am going. Don’t you see the round track and bar connecting all the cars in the middle?” Dad’s an easy mark, so they got cotton candy and snow cones. Good thing Mom brought wipes. While Dad was getting dinner, Mom got roped by a very tall cowboy, but Dad was able to save her.
