Springtime is simply amazing. We took advantage of the 80 degree weather to get out in the yard and work amongst the lovely scents of our Daphne bushes. Steve focused on fixing things, but took some time to build “chicken furniture” (check out the three tiered perch/support beam and the balance beam) and added an electric fence to protect his girls. Sarah and the kids weeded, moved plants, cleaned up flower beds and made room for some seeds – we are going to try to garden. Check out the close up of a pea plant thrusting its way to the sun. Amazing. Hildi loves being outside – so many things to keep her busy. Finn and his friends helped further our “neighborhood connection” trail and impressed us how easily they made it across a log, the new “bridge” across the ravine. The remains of the play structure that did not get crushed by falling limbs comes in handy. The kids watch the chickens while they climb and slide. The chickens watch the kids as they vie for roosting position and fly. The simple, good life. As you can see we think both kids are darling. Hildi and her bossy ways and talking as well as most teenagers. Finn leaving love pictures around the yard and writing poetry at night, “My sister is a pill, times two.” They are keepers.
