Gone to the Beach . . .

If you’ve been reading all our entries, you know we’ve spent a fair amount of time at the beach. This one is dedicated to our latest trips. Click here to see shots.

Fun Fishing: Scott decided to take the kids fishing at the pond near our Nedonna Beach project last year. When we arrived, we saw Finn in his chair eating the candy corn Scott let him pick out at the Barview Store and drinking pop. He said, without a pole in his hand, “I love fishing.”

Whale Watching: On April Fool’s Day Niffer came running shouting about whales. “Yeah right,” we thought, but an energy about her that it believable. We rushed down to the beach and saw a pod of gray whales. Turns out it was the end of Spring Whale Watch Week. Scott got out his scope – but you didn’t need it to see them splash their tails, breach, and force air out of their blow hole (they shoot about 12 feet high). As you’ll see, Hildi was more interested in the shells on the beach.

Twin Rocks Project: On the 5th of May we started marking out and clearing new property which is in a convenient place – on a dead end street less than 500 yards from Mom and Dad’s by trail. So, while the brutes cut down trees, Sarah took the kids on the tracks near Smith Lake, threw rocks, and ushered “Prince Abubu” (our name for Finn when he’s being catered to) and his sister. Steve got quite banged up limbing trees. The kids and other burtes escaped without a scratch.

The next weekend Big Steve brought down his BIG chipper (now Finn thinks all big landscaping equipment he sees belongs to big Steve) and he and Scott cleaned up the HUGE pile of limbs and junk the previous owners left. The trouble with the first load is that it was so heavy; his truck got a little stuck. We got to watch the pullout. We helped the following day; shredding a few more trees came down. Once again Hildi slept through much of the action. See how Scott makes sure the cousins are powered to work with “Chocolate Shots.”

It is our “second job” but you can see that everyone has a lot of fun too.
