It was more dramatic in real life than the pictures show. A windstrom blew in on the Oregon Coast while we were in Hawaii. From there we watched videos like
this. The storms on December 2 and 3 produced an extreme long-duration wind event with hurricane-force wind gusts of up to 137 mph (220 km/h) at Holy Cross, Washington on the Washington Coast and 129 mph (208 km/h) at Bay City, Oregon on the Oregon Coast. The storm also brought heavy rains and produced widespread record flooding throughout the region.
When we returned there was some cleaning up to do around mom and dad's place. So on dad's birthday, we lit up one pile. We had so much fun doing it (that dry night with a full moon) we decided to clean up thier's and adjoining lots the following day. Not such a good plan. We had a pile probably 10 feet high and so much rain coming down we had to keep emptying our boots. See
shots.
