It's Official: Sarah's a Soccer Mom

Finn had his first practice today with Team Leopard, a ferocious group of boys under six. Check out his moves. We are thrilled with his coaches who pointed out that the most important thing in soccer (outside of not kicking each other on purpose) is to have fun. Finn did builder and bulldozer moves, practiced red light/green light, and shot for a few goals. He doesn't sweat like his mom and his face was a red as his shorts in the moderate heat. When we asked him if he had fun, he said, "What do you think? I was running around the whole time in the sun." But did later report that it was fun. Soon he'll be (and we'll be) complaining that it is too cold out.

Just before practice we visited his new school and met some of his new classmates at an ice cream social. Hildi thinks she is ready for grade school too. She climbed up on the play structure and seemed to think she was queen of the castle. Another girl about her height came up to Hildi and they went eyeball to eyeball. In fact, I could see thier little noses touching each other as they stared each other down like cats. I thought it was kind of cute until Hildi decided she had enough and bit the other girl on the arm. Later she scaled the side of the play structure and pushed a girl about twice as tall as her and made her cry. Maybe she thinks she's on Team Leopard. Catty girl.
