Long and lean is our current theme. Heck we should be thin after surviving Finn’s 4th Birthday, Dad’s 60th Surprise at our house, Christmas Eve with the Harrington’s, Christmas Day with the Robinsons and Berge’s, New Years at the Beach, Snow Fun, Visits to Nana & Papa’s (while Steve recovered from his vasectomy – don’t even get me started here), a visit from Mari Jo and Maya, and helping Kendra find a dress for her August 18th wedding. Click here for some pictures.
For Finn it means making spaceships that are long, navigating ‘lean’ times when attention is focused on Hildi (see photos to find out what he can do with a pen in a matter of minutes), and dancing like the skinny NFL cheerleaders shouting in his dino jamies shouting, “I’m a cheerleader.” His love interest Anneliese is a year older and has entertained us with telling us, “I started falling in love with ‘Finn Finn’ the minute he started my class.” After many weeks of getting in trouble for kissing, and then a couple weeks of running away from Finn at recess, she’s found a happy medium. Now she secretly stuffs love notes and pictures into Finn’s cubby. His other main love interest is our long and lean neighbor Sasee. She’s always ready for fun. As you can see in the Let It Snow post, they hit the slopes when the snow hit. Then she awarded us our snowman “World’s Best.” More recently she got him to go down the big slide 25 times at the pool. He also loves all the games he got for his birthday and Christmas. We’ve been playing them on our newly established Wednesday Game Nights.
For Hildi long and lean is what she’s become! At her six month appointment
she weighed in at 16 pounds 10 ounces (Finn was 21 pounds at this age), which places her in the 75% for weight. And, at 18 inches, she’s off the charts 100% plus for height. She’s growing at a rate of 1” a month. No wonder that little body pops so much. Slowly but surely, her red hair is coming in. She loves to smile and shake her head back and forth. We call it her “happy head.” She’s very fond of her Dad, brother and other extended family members like Niffer and Oma. She’s eating some real food now (Mom’s loving the break) and sitting up pretty reliably. We can’t wait for her to crawl.
